FM FFA recaps a busy September

PITSBURG—Franklin Monroe FFA has had a busy September.

It began with the monthly meeting on Sept. 5. The chapter regularly has an activity for the members after the meeting as a bonding experience. This month the officers decided to hold a friendly softball game and invited another chapter to enjoy this activity and sit in on the meeting. The Mississinawa Valley FFA chapter was suggested and they agreed to come.

The chapters met on the Sept. 5, and the game was played even though the weather was not favorable. It began raining prior to the first pitch and then slowly continued to drizzle.

This did not faze the players as everyone gave their best in an effort to prevail. Due to an abundance of FM FFA members, the players were numbered off and split into two teams.

Afterwards there were hamburgers and hot dogs served prior to the meeting. The meeting began and the chapter concurred on each new subject of business and proceeded to vote.

The FM FFA chapter hopes that everyone enjoyed the time spent together in the softball game, cookout, and the meeting.

On Sept. 18, The FM FFA chapter held their First Annual Tractor/Truck/Car Cruise-In, with the help of Sinclair Community College. The event was held at Franklin Monroe High School from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on that Sunday afternoon.

The chapter was very pleased with the turnout which included 60 different trucks, cars, and tractor entries. The most popular attraction of the afternoon was the ride-alongs in a Tesla that Sinclair had brought to the cruise-in. The car was always on the move letting people experience the popular electric vehicle and it’s features.

The chapter appreciated all of the community members who came out to show off their treasures or just browse all the entries. The FM FFA chapter would like to THANK all of the participants in this first time event for making it fun and successful!  They would also like to THANK Ryan and Carrie Lair, Dale and Cathy Maurer, and Sinclair for their tremendous help in planning, setting up, and helping the day of the event.
