Driver injured in early morning OVI crash

DARKE COUNTY – On Thursday, at approximately 3:43 am, Darke County Sheriff Deputies, along with Ansonia Fire and Rescue, responded to the 11000 block of SR 49 North reference to a vehicle crash with injuries.

Investigation revealed a 2001 Honda Civic, driven by Kyle Lecompte (30) of Rockford, was traveling Southbound on SR 49 North when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway before striking a pole, causing the vehicle to split into two pieces. The front of the vehicle, where Lecompte was sitting, continued into a bean field with the rear of the vehicle re-entering the roadway, both coming to rest.

Lecompte was transported to Wayne HealthCare, where he’s being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He presented signs of alcohol impairment on the scene and was ultimately issued a citation for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to control a motor vehicle.

This case remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
