GREENVILLE – Wayne HealthCare Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Chad Weber remains one of the most recognized and trusted names in joint replacement surgery throughout the region, earning a reputation built on precision, compassion, and patient-first care.
“It is very humbling — it is my favorite place to practice medicine,” Dr. Weber said of Greenville’s Wayne HealthCare. “I grew up in an area very similar to Greenville on a smaller scale. I love the people.”
Weber credits the hospital for creating an environment where quality care thrives.
“The hospital does a great job; they take great care of me, they take great care of my patients,” he said. “It’s overwhelming sometimes — very, very humbling for me to be up here and having the response that we’ve had and the success with the surgery. We started here in 2018 with Mako doing the robotics.”
Wayne HealthCare President/CEO Jeff Subler said Dr. Weber has become central to the hospital’s orthopedic excellence.

“Dr. Weber has been in the community for many years with Orthopedic Associates, and he’s our main orthopedic surgeon here at the hospital,” Subler said. “Fantastic guy — everybody loves him. He is our number one producer and continues to get rave reviews from patients and our staff.”
“He’s top-notch, and if we could clone Dr. Weber, we would multiple times,” Subler continued. “He’s that good and just a great guy. I consider him a friend, and we appreciate the relationship with Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Weber takes the cake — he’s the top guy here, and we hope he sticks around for a really long time.”
Dr. Weber earned his medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and has practiced for more than 20 years. His expertise includes knee and hip replacement, arthritis care, and various orthopedic conditions.
“Dr. Weber has served as our lead surgeon and trusted partner with Orthopedic Associates from day one,” said Terri Flood, VP of Marketing & Business Development.
Wayne HealthCare made a significant financial commitment to bringing state-of-the-art robotic joint-replacement technology to a community hospital, a move that set the stage for remarkable growth.

“There had been a few other hospitals we went to that were not willing to take that risk,” Weber recalled. “Wayne HealthCare was willing, and it has been very successful.”
He credited former Wayne HealthCare CEO Wayne Deschambeau for championing the effort.
“I remember when we first started meeting with him, and I said, ‘Are we going to be able to do this?’ He looked across the table and said, ‘Anytime the CFO is smiling, I guess that’s a good sign,’ and here we are.”
Since adopting robotic technology, Wayne HealthCare’s volume has surged—from 160 joint procedures a year to more than 500 in 2025, with more than a month remaining.

“We have people coming from all over the place to receive great care,” Weber said. “People come here for surgery and end up returning for therapy because they like this area.”
“Dr. Weber set the bar; he set the tone and paved the way for this surgery program,” Subler said. “He is the main reason for its success. He paved the way for others to come here and say, ‘We’re comfortable bringing our patients,’ and they do — many from outside the area.”
Sometimes, Subler added, patients are unsure at first.
“They say, ‘I don’t know where Greenville is.’ We tell them, ‘Come up — you’re going to have a fantastic experience,’ and they always do.”
Dr. Weber’s impact is strongly reflected in patient testimonials, including longtime Darke County Commissioner Mike Stegall, who has undergone five joint replacements with Weber.
“I suppose I am Dr. Weber’s poster child for surgeries,” Stegall said. “He replaced both of my shoulders, both of my knees (both at the same time), and my right hip. One more hip to go, and I am bionic!”
“His demeanor as a doctor and person makes you confident in his abilities,” Stegall continued. “He is a true professional with a great bedside manner. Personally, he’s the best doctor I have ever been around, and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of joint replacement surgery.”
Dr. Weber noted that the orthopedic team has expanded its range beyond general joint procedures.
“We used to be just general, but now we’re doing more hands, more complex cases, and some revisions,” he said. “It’s a great place to be.”

Wayne HealthCare has added several specialists in recent years, including Dr. Andrew Malarkey, Dr. Steimle, Dr. Bamberger, Dr. Hatic, and Dr. Reed.
“We have a bunch of good people up here,” Weber said. “We are really protective of the culture. I am super protective of the culture because it’s key to the success — the quality of the people, the care patients get here, and the physicians and staff.”
“I owe a lot to these guys, and I appreciate them very much,” Weber concluded. “I don’t want anyone thinking we take this for granted — because I definitely don’t.”
