GREENVILLE – Reverent Church has partnered with Tribute Funeral Homes to provide the avenue for the Veterans Banner program in the City of Greenville.
“Darke County is a proud community that recognizes our military with gratitude,” said Eric and Kristin Fee of Tribute Funeral Homes. “Tribute Funeral Homes’ mission of Celebrating Lives and Serving Families fits this program seamlessly. We are grateful to be a part of reviving this longstanding and proud tradition of honoring our local military throughout our downtown area.”
“Jesus said, ‘There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for our friends’ (John 15:13),” Reverent Church pastor Jeff Harper, a US Veteran. “Less than 10 percent of Ohioans serve in the military, willing to risk their lives so others might live free. I believe that honoring the willingness of sacrifice is important. It is our way of saying Thank You.”
Banner installation will begin on Broadway in Downtown Greenville in April. Banners may be ordered and purchased online. Eric Fee can assist with ordering.
“If you can’t do it on a computer, make an appointment with me at Tribute Funeral Homes, and I will walk you through it and help you with your order,” said Fee.
Joe Wintrow of Wintrow Signs and Designs will design and provide the banners, and Mike Jones and the Mike Jones Family will donate the hangers.
“The City of Greenville Street Department is hanging the banners for us, so it’s a community effort to complete the project,” Fee noted.
“We love doing work for our veterans,” said Wintrow. “We have been doing the banners all over Darke County for years.”
Banners will remain up from Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year and will be removed before Christmas decorations go up. They will be stored for safekeeping in the winter and ready to be installed again in the spring.
“We are going to fill up Broadway and then go down North Broadway and fill it up,” said Fee. “If they keep coming in, we will go through the park, but Broadway will be first.”
Thanks to Tribute Funeral Homes, Reverent Church, Wintrow Signs and Designs, the Mike Jones Family, and the City of Greenville Steet Department for supporting the Military Banner Program.
The cost per banner is $200 for a three-year term, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to local Veterans and Veteran programs.
Checks may be made to Reverent Church or paid online by credit card. Everything can be completed using the Military Banner Program link.
