Donald Eugene Fitzgerald “Fitz”, age 88 of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.
He was born on December 30, 1935 in Fort Jefferson, Ohio to the late Lewis and Mary (Wilson) Fitzgerald.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Fitzgerald; and sisters, Betty Silcott, Joan Messmore, Marylou Newbauer, Norman Baker, and Marthalie Tracey; and his grandson, Patrick Fitzgerald.
Those left to cherish Don’s memory include his loving wife, Judith Fitzgerald of Greenville, who he married on July 26, 1983; brother, Robert Fitzgerald (Maxine) of Greenville; sons, Donald Fitzgerald II (Kay) of Kentucky, David Fitzgerald of Ansonia, Ted Fitzgerald (Diana) of Greenville; daughter, Anne Fitzgerald (Jeff Raymond) of Greenville; stepdaughters, Kim Bohler of Greenville and Karrie Quigney of Greenville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Don retired from Hittle Pontiac and Cadillac after 40 years of managing the body shop. He had been an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Eagles and Elk lodges. Don was an avid fisherman, loved camping and being outdoors, and enjoyed golfing. He loved to travel, spend time with his family and friends, and keep busy working on many projects.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Everheart Hospice.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Brumbaugh officiating.
