Diane Prenger, age 81, of Versailles passed away at 1:23 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical center in Columbus.
Diane was born June 9, 1945, to the late George & Pauline (Apple) Berry. She was raised in Versailles and graduated in the class of 1963 then attended Miami Jacobs College and obtained her beauticians license which she practiced until she became a full-time mother.
She is proceeded in death by her son, Todd Prenger, parents, brother Denis Berry, nephew and niece Brent and Sarah Berry, in laws Leo & Katharine Prenger, and brother-in-law Gail Mc Knight.
At VHS Diane met her high school sweetheart and future husband Larry Prenger. They were married on November 26, 1966. This year would have been their 60th anniversary and they both looked so forward to celebrating that milestone.
Diane was a loving, devoted and amazing wife and mother. She was nurturing, compassionate, dedicated, loyal and no nonsense with the people she cared about. Those who knew and loved her will remember a woman quick with a smile and laugh and most definitely a sharp-witted remark if necessary. Diane enjoyed life to its fullest. Whether traveling to a lake house they owned in Michigan for many years or wintering in Florida or visiting friends in other states, she was always up for an adventure and took Larry along for the ride. Over the years, Diane was dedicated to her children as a stay-at-home mother who always provided a stable, warm, nurturing home. She was the CEO of the Prenger household. Times with her family were the most important to her. Golfing with friends, playing cards, good food and cuddling her great grandchildren were some of her most favorite things to do. Diane was beautiful inside and out.
Diane is survived by her husband Larry. Her son Craig and his wife Tammy (Ebbeskotte) and their children Cassie and Nic Bronkall and Courtney and Daniel Moorehead. Her daughter Stacy and Allen Platfoot and their children Noah Grisez & fiancée Diana Heitkamp, Hannah Grisez and special friend Mason Saeler, Macy and Matt Milheim, Preston Platfoot, Paige and Nathan Wagner and Payton Platfoot and fiancée Morgan Shepherd. Daughter in law Kim (Prenger) and Mark Monnier and their children Jaden and Corey Dieringer, Cole Prenger and Skylar and Hayley Monnier. Diane absolutely adored her great grandchildren Cash and Hank Bronkall, Samson Moorehead, Ellie & Ivy Milheim, Grayson, Kade & Beckett Monnier and soon to be baby Wagner. Her sister Judy Berry and in laws Dan and Judy Prenger, Tom & Diana Bills, and Nancy McKnight. Diane is also survived by many nieces and nephews, special friend, Rosanna Bontrager and many lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. James Reutter celebrant. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Private burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles.
