DARKE COUNTY – On Sunday at approximately 4:39 p.m. Darke County Dispatch was advised that the Clay Township Police Department was in pursuit of a 2003 Silver Honda.

Clay Township pursued the vehicle into Darke County before terminating their pursuit. A Darke County Deputy was southbound on SR49 at Hogpath Rd. when he passed the silver Honda at 75 MPH.

The driver of the silver Honda failed to comply with the order to stop and proceeded to drive north on SR49 at a high rate of speed. The Deputy continued pursuing the suspect vehicle into the City of Greenville. The suspect eventually started heading eastbound on US36.

The Deputy continued following the suspect vehicle into Miami County. The Covington Police Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ohio State Patrol had units heading to his location. As the suspect vehicle entered the village limits of Covington, Covington PD attempted to deploy stop sticks to try and disable the fleeing motorist, but he swerved to miss the stop sticks.

At this point, no other units were close to the Darke County Deputy so the pursuit was terminated before entering any other cities. At this time the identity of the driver is unknown.
