Darlene O’Connor Hart, 85, entered into her eternal life on Saturday, September 7, 2024, to join her beloved husband, Robert. Darlene was born in West Farmington, Ohio on December 1, 1938 to Robert Blair and Josephine Anna O’Connor.
Darlene was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She and Robert were married on July 15, 1961 and went on to raise three children in Warren, Ohio then Greenville, Ohio. She was an amazing pianist from a young age and attended Ohio University for music therapy. Everyone looked forward to her playing at the well-loved Hart Christmas parties.
She was an incredible hostess and always made sure any get-together was well stocked with everyone’s favorite treat. Family camping trips were a norm, either close to home, at the family cottages at Guilford Lake, or a number of places along Lake Erie. She and Robert made sure they took their children on many adventures and created lasting memories.
Darlene enjoyed traveling and winery adventures with her sisters-in-law and attending family reunions on all sides of the family. After retirement, she and Robert also spent many winters in Florida, enjoying the sun and sand and friends made there.
Darlene worked as a dental assistant, and for Hill’s Department Store and later in Greenville for Eikenberry’s IGA. Darlene was a member of the D.A.R. and had been a member of the Friends of the Library when they moved to Greenville. She was an avid knitter and attended a regular knitting group at the library. She enjoyed sewing and created many wonderful costumes and outfits for her children. She was also a voracious reader and passed that love of reading on to her children. She loved a good joke and was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. More than anything, family meant the most to her and she never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Judith Yuricek and Sandra Miller; and brother-in-law, Raymond Miller.
She is survived by her children, Chris Hart of Greenville, OH; Brian and Kathleen Hart of Columbus, OH; Jennifer and Mike Stapleton of Fairfield, OH; three grandchildren, Danielle (Elise), Evan (Charlotte), and Anna. As an only child, she is survived by Dorcas Borton (cousin) of Warren, OH who was like a sister; Loretta McHenry (cousin) of Cortland, OH and many more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Per Darlene’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenville Public Library in Greenville, Ohio.
