DARKE COUNTY – Commissioners Matt Aultman and Marshall Combs were present at the June 24, 2025, regular meeting. The meeting started at 1:30 p.m. The Commissioner’s first order of business was the reading of session minutes from Thursday, the 17th. They were approved. The session proceeded with the examination and allowance of bills from the June 17th and June 24th meetings. Vouchers amounting to $12,929.73 out of the General Fund, and outside funds of $57,485.97 for a total of $70,415.70, all were approved for payment.
Tari Darr, from the Griffin Academy, gave a presentation on the training they are doing for 17-18-year-old Foster care youth who are interested in vocational trades. Any construction leaders or anyone in the skilled trades business are invited to attend their brainstorming session from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Friday, June 27th at the Griffin Academy, 702 Albert Street in Englewood.
Transfers of Appropriations were next for Darke County Commissioners and Adult Probation. The Commissioners moved $14,000 to Airport Electric to cover costs, and $10,000 from Facility Maintenance to Maintenance minus $10,000. Adult Probation moved $14,809.98 from the 2023 Community Corrections Grant to Personal Service to cover electronic monitoring and drug testing.
Darke County Solid Waste is requesting proposals for Tire Recycling Day, September 17th. The deadline for submission is 4 p.m. on Monday, July 7th. Solicitation packets can be requested by calling (937) 547-0827. Proposals will be received in the Commissioner’s office, 520 S. Broadway, Greenville, Oh. 45331, attention, Karen Avore.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Commissioners and Wayne Healthcare was approved, so Wayne Healthcare for the Drug Discount program, established under the 340B program of the Public Health Services Act. During the terms of this agreement, this will provide health services to residents who do not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. The amount of money is usually between $600,000 and $1 million. In 2024, the total was $839,000 in care.
Expense requests for the Sheriff and D.C. Veterans were approved. The Sheriff was approved for $309.00 for Nick Bruner to attend 9-1-1 training in Englewood, and $330.00 was approved for the Veterans for Var Gehron, Tom Pitman, and Cynthia Bruner to attend the OSACVO Summer quarterly.
Darke County Grants advanced funds of $4,500.00 for the 2023 Lead Safe Ohio Grant for two properties. Funds will be put back once received from the Grant. Then, a contract for $71,400 was awarded to H&H Environmental for Asbestos Abatement, and $264,000.00 was awarded to First Choice Excavating and Demolition, LLC out of Piqua for the Darke County 2024 Demolition and Site Revitalization Program.
A Transfer of Appropriations was granted for the D.C. Juvenile/Probate Dept. The funds were moved to cover the new Server cost and Court fees. The total amount was $11,866.00.
A Proclamation was presented for Journal information for the naming of the Bridge west of the K of C hall in Versailles for Staff Sergeant Gene F. Morrison. Representative Angie King was the impetus for this presentation.
The Darke County Grants Dept. Brownfield Remediation Program awarded a contract to Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. for assessment of the Treaty Lanes Property at 1137 Sweitzer Street in Greenville. The contract is not to exceed $201,000.00.
Citizens Charles Prasuhn and David George had questions for the Commissioners. Mr. Prasuhn wanted information on the Property tax bill before the Legislature, and Mr. George wanted information on who controlled the rights-of-way on Darke County Roads.
The Session ended at 2:19. The Next meeting is at 1:30 p.m. on June 26th, in the Commissioner’s Office.
