Darke County Seniors Celebrate Veterans and November Birthdays with a Potluck Meal

DARKE COUNTY – November welcomes lots of great activities for physical fitness, socializing, learning a craft, hearing about local services available or taking up line dancing. And then there is always time to share a meal, take a road trip or participate in fundraising events.

Monday, November 2nd Leigh Fletcher from Friends on Board will give those in attendance a sneak peek of her upcoming trips for the 2027 travel season. She will be on hand from 10:30 – 11:30 am prepared to answer any questions or reserve a spot for those interested on either a motorcoach or flight trip. Followed by a spectacular musical program present by the Greenville High School Musical Department. Beginning at 1:00 pm the Wavaire show choir will entertain. The program is expected to last approximately 45 minutes, during which time they will perform to a variety of music, including Eye of the Tiger, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Dance with me Tonight, and Boogie Wonderland. There will also be a Halloween segment of spooky songs, including Thriller, Monster Mash and Ghostbusters, as well as solo and small group acts and a tribute to our Armed Forces.

Medicare Open Enrollment is underway through December 7, 2026. During this period, Medicare beneficiaries may review, change, join, or drop Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. For help understanding the options and process, attend a free Medicare essentials program for the Darke County Seniors on Tuesday, November 3, at 1 pm. Becky Hayward, Outreach & Education Supervisor with the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program, will present, and Nicole Gillespie, Vice President of Financial Services at Wayne HealthCare, will answer questions about financial assistance programs. Refreshment will be provided by Wayne HealthCare.

On Wednesday, November 4th at 3:00 pm the Darke County Seniors membership meeting will include a potluck meal and honor the veterans. All members and guests are encouraged to attend, bring a dish to share, and enjoy the gathering. During this program the America 250 quilt will be awarded to one lucky winner. Donated by Theresa and Randy Kress as a fundraiser for the organization, the beautiful handmade quilt is on display at the Birchwood Senior Center where tickets will remain available until the drawing.

November birthdays will also be celebrated and a $20 gift card donated by Northside Community Church will be drawn. As sponsor church of the month Northside Community Church also provides refreshments at our main craft event held later in November. Located in Greenville at 8135 US Rt 127, Northside Community Church is all one level with no steps. They offer Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 am and worship at 10:30 am. Their mission is to proclaim the name of Jesus. Grow in faith and serve others. We thank Northside Community Church for supporting the Darke County Seniors.
