Darke County Football Playoff Preview for Ansonia, Tri-Village, and Versailles

Playing this Friday at 7pm  is Ansonia, Tri-Village and Versailles with both Tiger teams playing at home while the Patriots goes on the road to play the West Liberty-Salem Tigers.

Ansonia steam rolled Cincinnati Lockland 52-7 last week as the Tigers ran the ball early and often amassing 478 yards on the ground.

Keegen Weiss ran for 215 yards and 4 scores, Garrett Stammen had 89 yards and 1 TD.

Up next for the 11-0 Tigers is 7-4 Mechanicsburg out of the Ohio Heritage Conference.

Mechanicsburg has run for 2316 yards on the ground and passed for 1208 yards this season.

Ansonia is no slouch running the ball with 3674 yards and has passed for just 446 yards.

The leading rusher for the Tigers is Keegen Weiss with 2029 yards and 36 TDs, Garrett Stammen added 537 yards and 9 TDs.  Mechanicsburg Jayden Roland has had a good year running with 1525 yards and 19 TDs.

Ansonia scores 50 points a game and gives up 11 while the Indians score 27 ppg and has given up 18.5 a game.

This game will come down to who executes their running game the best along with a key pass here or there.

Tri-Village is coming off a 35-0 win over National Trail who they played for the 2nd straight week.

Patriots Quarterback Braden Keating was 9/20, 140 yards with 2 TD passes both caught by sophomore Trey Sagester.

Keating also rushed for 2 TDs and Reed Wehr added one on the ground as well for the Patriots.

Tri-Village improves to 10-1 and will face a stern test in round two as they travel to 10-1 West Liberty Salem out of the Ohio Heritage Conference.  The Tigers likes to run the ball … but also match the Patriots in scoring, while the Patriots have the slight edge on defense giving up 8 fewer points per game.

The Tigers rushed for 2762 yards this year as a team and threw for 1,000 yards. The Patriots have rushed for 1920 yards this year while passing for 2044 yards.  West Liberty averaged 42 points per game while giving up 16.5 points per game.   The Patriots score 42.6 points a game and give up just 8.8 points per game.

West Liberty leading rusher is Gabe McGill with 1454 yards and 30 rushing TDs, while the Patriots Reed Wehr rushed for 1378 yards and 21 TDs on the ground.

Tri-Village QB Braden Keating has thrown for 1863 yards, 23 TDs and rushed 347 yards and 8 TD’s while the Tigers Miles Hostetler has thrown for 967 yards and 11 TD’s.  Hostetler also rushed for 403 yard and 8 TDs.

The Patriots’ leading receiver is Tanner Printz with 673 yards, 8 TDs, Reed Wehr 490 yard and 8 TDs.  West Liberty Salem leading receiver is Jacob Evans 221 yards and 2 TDs.

It should be a very interesting match-up and the Patriots will need to play mistake free football to come out on top.

Versailles 9-2 will host 7-4 Twin Valley South.

Versailles is coming off a 40-0 shutout over Troy Christian where they rushed for 305 yards and had 135 passing yards in the win.

The Tigers are averaging 30.3 points a game on offense and show a lot of balance.

They like to throw the ball with quarterback Michael Osborne 1240 yards and 13 TDs to Jace Watren his favorite receiver.  Osborne was the MAC offensive player of the year and has also rushed for 745 yards with 9 TDs.  Joel Gehret is there leading rusher with 630 yards while scoring 11 TDs this season while also kicking extra points for 97 points this year.

The Tiger’s defense has been very stingy this year giving up just 7.5 points per game.

They are led by defensive tackle Dominic Barga 34 tackles and a 1st Team All MAC, A.J. Griesdorn, cornerback 2nd Team All MAC 13 Solo Tackles, 6 INTs, Dominic Meyer, defensive tackle 2nd Team All MAC, James Schmitmeyer, inside linebacker 2nd Team All MAC with 84 Tackles, 6 TFL, 1 INT and Ross Francis, Outside Linebacker with 54 tackles 5 TFL, 1 INT, 1 Fumble Recovery.

Twin Valley South is coming off a 35-7 win over Cincinnati Deer Park (Hometown School of 700 WLW Bill Cunningham).

South had 364 yards of offense, 238 yards rushing and 126 yards passing in the game.The Panthers have rushed for 2759 yards this season and passed for 768 yards.  They are averaging 33 points per game and giving up 20 points.

Cais Kingsley leads the team in rushing with 1215 yards and 19 TDs.  Brayden Koeller has run for 905 yards and 9 TD’s. The team has been quarterbacked by Caden and Cole Bishop with Cole stepping in late due to an injury to Caden.  Together they have thrown for 768 yards and 9 TDs.
