Darke County Commissioners meet

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners, Matt Aultman, Aaron Flatter, and Marshall Combs, were all present at the April 17, 2025 meeting. The regular session began at 1:30 in the Administration Building. On the agenda were the regular session minutes from last Tuesday, which were passed unanimously, followed by the examination and allowance of bills. The vouchers, including any “then and now” certificates in the amount of the General fund, were $43,315.05; Outside General funds of $651,411.87, for a total of $694,726.92, were unanimously approved for payment. 

Next, sealed bids were opened for the Wagner Interior Renovation Project. There were three bidders on the $850,000 estimated project: Arcon was the lowest at $708,600, ATCS was next at $778,770.00, and Brumbaugh was third at $819,500.00. The engineer will assess the bids, and an award will be made, probably next week.

A transfer of appropriations, expense requests, and fund advances was next for the commissioners. The Darke County Auditor transferred $100,000 from the other operating expense fund to facility maintenance and repair. The Darke County Veterans Administration heads, Thomas Pitman and Var Gehron are attending the NACVSO mandatory conference in downtown Louisville, on July 13-18. Total expenses for both will total $4,380.00. Var Gehron will attend the Governor’s Wreath Laying Ceremony in Columbus on May 21st for an estimated total of $100.00.  The Darke County Grants Dept. ask for fund advances of $366 for Susan Laux to attend Housing Rehab for Program Staff on May 6th, that will be advanced back once the revenue from the Grant is received.  $3500.00 was advanced for the Box Hangar Grant, and $10,005.00 was advanced for the 2024 Building Demo Revital Grant. Those will also be advanced back once the Grant is received.

Finally, the Darke County Vehicle Maintenance Dept. declared as junk a Chevrolet Express Van with 105,388 miles on it and end of life, and was accepted by the commissioners. 

The County offices will be closed at 12:00 tomorrow, April 18th for Good Friday.  The next session is Tuesday, April 22nd, at 1:00 in the Commissioner’s office.
