GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Thursday afternoon.
Commissioners Matthew Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Aaron Flatter were all present.
Under Resolution (R-2-2025), the Examination and Allowance of Bills dated January 9, 2025, was read and approved. The General Fund was $243,533.33; outside general funds were $828,667.40, for a Grand Total of $1,072,200.73.
Mercedes McFarland, Educator, 4-H Youth Development gave her OSU Extension Update.
McFarland mentioned that a Darke County 4-H Youth, Sophia Aultman recently won a trip to Greece through 4-H Programming and will be attending in the Spring of this year.
Commissioners approved a Letter of Request for the Darke County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. They requested payment for the County Match for the FY2024 EMPG ( Emergency Management Performance Grant) in the amount of $49,317.00.
Designation of Solid Waste Facilities was presented by Krista Fourman-Unger, Darke County Solid Waste, and was approved. In November, there was a designation approved, however, Rumpke asked DC Solid Waste to add Henry County Landfill.
Fourman-Unger advised that the resolution is the same however, it’s updated with the requested location in Henry County. The reason for these designations is to notify them to send tonnage back to the county if Darke County residents haul trash to their facilities.
Commissioners also approved an Agreement for Recycling Drop Boxes between the Darke County Board of Commissioners, Darke County Solid Waste, and Best Way Disposal.
There will be a total of 17 locations with 22 total bins amongst those locations. The 5-year contract totals $305,419.30.
An Agreement was also approved for Julian & Grube Advisory Proposal. They will assist the Board of Darke County Commissioners with any paperwork to ensure the county moves forward correctly.
“They are a firm that does all of our state auditing,” said Commissioner Aultman. “With all of the changes with the state items and grant items, this puts them on a retainer. So we can ask them for assistance when needed.”
Under Resolution (R-17-2025), CEBCO Wellness Grant Agreement was also approved. Commissioners each year are allocated for the health insurance of employees. Along with that, is provides wellness for employees as well and Commissioners receive nearly $8,000 to help with that programming.
Commissioner Combs congratulated Rumpke on their new facility in which a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held earlier that day.
