Darke County Commissioners approve 2025 Appropriations

GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Aaron Flatter were all present.

Under Resolution (R-32-2025), the Examination and Allowance of Bills dated January 23, 2025, and January 28, 2025 was read and approved. The General Fund was $57,095.69; outside general funds were $38,447.46, for a Grand Total of $95,543.15.

Commissioners approved the Annual Appropriation Resolution for the County of Darke for Fiscal Year 2025 presented by Auditor, Carol Ginn.

There will be $41,153,030.25 appropriated from the General Fund and $76,162,249.14 appropriated from the Outside Funds, totaling $117,315,279.39.

“There are 69 departments in the County  General Fund that represent $41,153,030.25 appropriation,” said Auditor, Carol Ginn while presenting a letter. “There are 121 Funds outside the County General Fund that represent $76,161,249.14 appropriations with five new funds for 2025.” 

Ginn also shared that Darke County has applied for six new reimbursable grants in 2025 for $4,700,000.00.

“The County only has one piece of debt left for the South Industrial Park. This is a non-interest-bearing loan with the Ohio Water Development. This is a 20-year debt for $646,865.00 taken out on December 1, 2016. The balance as of December 31, 2024 is $371,947.46. The yearly payments are $32,343.24.”

Darke County Commissioners also approved the Adoption of the 2025 Darke County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation 5-year Plan Update. 

Darke County EMA Director, Mindy Saylor shared that this 5-year Plan Update is required by Ohio and has been a collaboration with local jurisdiction, and had been approved by the state, pending the adoption of the county as well.

Under Resolution (R-35-2025), Commissioners Declared Equipment as Junk. The retirement of a 2016 Ford Police Utility Explorer with 169,778 miles. It was removed from service due to the mileage and replacement cycle. The County will be selling it to the Village of Ansonia for $4,000.00.

A Notice of Public Hearing was also approved. Thursday, February 13th at 10:00 AM in the Board Room of the Darke County Administration Building will be the first public hearing for the PY2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The primary purpose of the hearing will be to inform citizens about the PY2025 CDBG Program.

The Darke County Board of Commissioners meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 pm.
