GREENVILLE – The Darke County Agricultural Society Board of Directors met Wednesday evening.

Darke County Junior Fair Coordinator Betsy Petitjean gave the Junior Fair Report.

On June 8, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., there will be an entry help day in the swine barn. Anyone who may have questions regarding Open or Junior Fair entries or just needs help navigating the ShoWorks Online Entries website is welcome to attend. ShoWorks Online Entries is now available to take entries for both Open and Junior Fair Shows.

Laura Ahrens briefly discussed a rental process for the new building. She’s hoping to set up guidelines and rates. There has been a lot of interest in the new building, and there have been multiple questions about the process. Jim Zumbrink suggested reaching out to other counties that have recently built new buildings and facilities to help create a process.

Darke County Cattlemen’s Association proposed a 2024 Spring Show to the board during the month of April. There was some discussion regarding the conflict with the Home & Sports Show, as a definite date has not been set. There was also discussion regarding water to the washracks and the possibility of potential weather that would result in freezing. It was approved to hold this show on April 5, 2025, and to try it out to see what works best in the future.

Craig Bowman, Board Director, shared that the Wall of Fame Nominations for the new building are currently underway until June 14th. You may call or email the office to nominate an individual who has always contributed to and promoted the Great Darke County Fair.

“I am getting a committee together. It will consist of five people throughout the community, and we will select five inductees for the nominations.”

The Darke County Agricultural Society Board of Directors will hold its next meeting at the Secretary’s Office on June 19, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.
