GREENVILLE – Darke County Common Pleas Court Judge Travis L. Fliehman handed down a 14-year sentence Monday morning for convicted teen sex offender Brandon Smathers (23) of Greenville.

Smathers had previously pleaded guilty to Rape (F1), Felonious Assault (F2) and Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor (F3). According to two indictments filed, the offenses took place between December 2021 and May 2022, involving two young teenage girls. The state dismissed 12 additional counts as part of the plea agreement.

According to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Deborah S. Quigley, the sentence was a mutual agreement between the state and Smathers’ defense attorney Randall Breaden.

Upon completion of his prison term, Smathers will be required to report as a Tier III Registered Sex Offender for the rest of his natural life.
