Connie Sue King Bowman, 77 of Union City, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio on September 9, 2024 after a short stay due to lingering back pain resulting in a fall that caused a broken hip.
Connie was born to Rufus William and Zaida Boone King on September 22, 1946 in Darke County Ohio. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at a young age, joining the Old German Baptist Church in which she remained faithful until death.
Connie was married to Marlin J Bowman, son of Charlie D. and Nettie Mae Bowman on July 3, 1965. To this marriage were born three sons Randy Lewis (Melissa), Les Wayne (Natalie), Melvin Lynn (Connie), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandsons.
Mom and dad weathered the ups and downs of life for a little over 59 years, with dad being a pilot there were many flights back and forth from Virginia and Ohio during the course of their marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin’s parents and stepmother-in-law Maxine Bowman, three brothers, three sisters, one infant sister, four brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law.
Mom fostered many relationships with employees and customers alike during the years working in the family butcher shop in Burnt Chimney, Virginia. She was well known for her ability to make many delicious meals and always had the freezer stocked with cookies and whoopie pies for her family to enjoy. Mom could make a chocolate pie with homemade crust that her family never tired of. Mom was also a phenomenal seamstress and enjoyed making her own dresses and many for others, as well as many outfits for us boys when we were younger. Crocheting and knitting were also favorite pastimes of moms.
In her later years, she was plagued with much back pain which she endured with a good spirit. We are thankful that the back pain she endured for years and the added injury from the broken hip was short-lived and she has now taken her last flight to be with Jesus.
The viewing and funeral were held at the Shady Grove, meeting house, Union City, Ohio on September 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with services following at 11:00 AM, with burial following at the Miller Grove Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio.
