GREENVILLE—The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday afternoon to discuss the Darke County Jail and Darke County Job & Family Services. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs and Larry Holmes were all present.

The board approved Resolution (R-113-2023), for a fund advance of $25,500 to cover Willow Product’s contract for security upgrades at the Darke County Jail.

The jail is one of six county jails in Ohio that received funds to assist with safety, security and operational projects. The county was awarded $1.8 million.

Commissioner Matt Aultman said the project is long overdue.

“It was built, and finished in 1983,” he said. “It’s never been updated. You’ve got 40 years of operation on some of that equipment. I think there’s one in the state that’s just smaller than us by like two or three people.”

He added that the project timeline is around 15 to 18 months.

Next, the board approved a certificate of employment for Darby Keller as a social services worker at Darke County Job & Family Services.

The certificate of employment is effective April 24, 2023.

The Darke County Board of Commissioners hold regular session every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at 520 South Broadway, Greenville, Ohio 45331. For more information contact the commissioner’s office at 937-547-7370.
