Commissioners present Electric Aggregation Program resolution

DARKE COUNTY – On Thursday, June 26, 2025, all three commissioners were present. The meeting started at 1:30 p.m. The Commissioner’s first order of business was the reading of session minutes from Thursday, the 24th. They were approved. The session proceeded with the examination and allowance of bills from the June 26th meeting. Vouchers amounting to $63,138.40 from the General Fund, and outside funds of $115,504.07, totaling $178,642.47, were all approved for payment.

A bid opening for 2025 Darke County road resurfacing was opened today. This is a joint County-Township OPWC project.  11.86 miles of county roads and 11.744 miles of Township roads will be covered. Walls Bros. Asphalt was the only bidder. Total Cost, estimated by the  County Engineer, was $2,537,051.70. The bid came in at $2,523,386.50 and was accepted for review by the Engineer. 

Various departments had Appropriation Transfers. The Michaels Resource & Treatment Center moved $2000.00 from other operating to Term vacation payout. Developmental Disabilities moved $ 1,000.00 from unanticipated to Machinery and Equipment. The Prosecuting Attorney moved $1500.00  from other operations to office supplies. All were approved.

A resolution was presented for an Electric Aggregation Program for the County. This would allow the Commissioners to have the authority to aggregate the retail electric customers in the unincorporated areas of the County, except for Adams, Brown, and Greenville townships. It will be put up for a vote this November. If approved, customers will have the ability to opt out of the program if they so choose.

A Certificate of Appointment was approved for the Commissioners to employ Kimberli Bair as Assistant Clerk/Secretary, effective July 7th, 2025.
