The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss an addendum for the contract to repair the exterior of the Courthouse and the Emergency Demolition Project in Hollansburg.

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present.

The Board approved an Addendum to the Contract with Arcon Builders for repairs to the exterior of the Courthouse. This addendum was mentioned in the previous meeting. The addendum is to add an alternate Seal Courthouse Facade at the completion of the Base Bid Scope. This adds $71,923 to the contract for a total of $484,435.

The Board also approved Resolution (R-262-2023). This is for the Emergency Demolition Project in Hollansburg. The Village of Hollansburg passed Resolution #04-2023 on August 28, posed the property at 104 N Main St. an imminent risk of injury or death upon pending collapse and should be demolished as soon as possible. On September 1, the Common Pleas Court agreed with the motion for Emergency Injunction.

The county has additional Demolition Grand funds to remove this unsafe structure. The Board authorizes Key Funding and the Darke County Grants Department to file an amendment with the Ohio Department of Development and accept bids for removing the structure. The Board deems it necessary to protect the village’s citizens and surrounding areas and is taking the process required to remove the hazardous structure at 104 N. Main St. Hollansburg.
