The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the FAA Terminal Construction Grant, the SHEP Grant, and a Certificate of Appointment.

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present.

The board approved Resolution (R-241-2023). This is a Fund Advance for the 2022 FAA Terminal Construction Grant. The fund advance covers Westerheide Pay Application #7 and #8 and will be advanced back once the revenue is received from the grant. A total of $241,210.20 will be moved from the General Fund to the Outside Fund.

Their goal is to have airport construction done by early September.

The board also approved Resolution (R-242-2023). This is a Fund Advance Back from the 2023 SHEP Grant for the Darke County Sheriff’s Department. This returns $682.99 to the General Fund. The original fund advance was Resolution R-166 and was approved on June 13.

The board also approved a Certificate of Appointment. This is to appoint Madisen Taylor as  Full Time Deputy Dog Warden at the Darke County Animal Shelter.

At the end of the meeting, Commissioner Combs shared that the County Recorders Office will be posted at the Veterans’ booth on Wednesday of the Fair.

“They will be recording DD214 and also issuing Veteran ID cards,” Commissioner Combs said. “So if you’re a veteran, bring your DD214, and they’ll issue those cards there.”
