Commissioners – Bids Received for 2026 Road Resurfacing and Striping

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular March 12, 2026, meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from March 10th.

The Examination and Allowance of bills dated March 12th were presented. The General Fund amount was $66,179.78, and the Outside General Funds were $273,066.55, for a total of $339,246.33. They were approved.

Sealed bids were taken for road resurfacing and pavement markings for various County and Township roads. There were two bidders: Walls Bros. for road resurfacing and Aeromark for pavement markings.  The bids will be reviewed by the County engineer. The winning bids, if accepted, will be announced at a later date.

Three Darke County Grant’s Dept. fund Transfers were next. The Castine Sewer Grant was first for $4,000.00. The second grant for the Gordon/Ithaca Sewer Grant was for $1,500.00, and both were for Choice One Engineering for preliminary hearings. The third was $299.00 for Aim Media ads notifications for the Village of New Weston. All were approved.

Revenue and Appropriations for the Grants Department were approved for $8,000.00 to Choice One Engineering, until revenue is received from the Grant.

The Sheriff had one expense request. Caleb Cook will attend the Basic Peace Officers Academy on March 16th, then weekly until August. The Total cost will be $3,200.00.  The second from the Veterans Administration was for Gaylen Blosser, Jennifer Anthony, Philip Rehmert, Scott Riffle, and Wesley Cothran to attend the OSAVSC 2026 Spring Conference in Dublin, March 27-29. The total cost is $3,200.00 for all five. Both requests were approved.

The monthly Inventory report and Obligations and Securities report were journalized.

Greg Billings from the Darke County Visitors Bureau gave an update to the Commissioners. Social media trends on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok were up 1,744 views over the last year.
