Commissioners Award Shinn Bros. Inc. contract for Versailles Project

The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss fund advances, the Versailles North Central Area Waterline Improvements Project, and the Partial Demolition of the Former Gettysburg School project. 

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present. 

The board approved Resolution (R-322-2023). This is a fund transfer for the Board of Elections and transfers $36,000 out of the general fund for voting machines. 

The board then approved Resolution (R-323-2023), a fund transfer for the Darke County Common Pleas Court. This transfers $30,000 out of the general fund for Clerk computerization. 

The board also approved Resolution (R-325-2023). This is revenue and appropriation increases for the new 2023 Fort Jefferson Sewer. This increases both revenue and appropriation by $25,400. 

The board approved a letter of recommendation and notice of award for the North Central Area Waterline Improvements in the Village of Versailles. Access Engineering Solutions LLC reviewed bids for this project and recommended the Board of Commissioners accept the bid from Shinn Bros. Inc.

The notice of award is the contract to Shinn Bros Inc. for the North Central area Waterline Improvement project in Versailles. The price of the contract is $1,279,000. 

The board then approved a construction contract and notice to proceed between them and Advanced Excavating and Demo., LLC. This is for the Former Gettysburg School Partial Demolition Project. This contract has a do not exceed amount of $108,750, and the project is to be completed by March 1, 2024. 

At the end of the meeting, the board heard from Mike Bowers, Director of Darke County Economic Development. He introduced Denise Elsas, the new full-time workforce specialist at DCED.
