GREENVILLE – The Darke County Commissioners’ August 19, 2025, meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Flatter, and Combs present. The Commissioner’s first order of business was the reading of session minutes from Tuesday, the 14th. They were approved.
The session proceeded with the examination and allowance of bills for August 19th, Vouchers amounting to $27,859.24 out of the General Fund, and outside funds of $31,575.35 for a total of $59,434.59 were approved for payment.
Darke County Grants received two funding advances today from the Ohio Lead Safe Grant. The first was for projects in 2024 for a total of $26,400.35, and for 2025 for a total of $238,560.65. Both were approved.
The Commissioners then adopted two policies. The Darke County Uniform Guidance policy for federal funding and the Darke County, Ohio, Accountable plan policy for all employees who incur expenses while performing their official duties.
Jordan Combs was hired as a full-time groundskeeper effective on the 25th of this month. Commissioner Combs abstained from voting because of a personal relationship with the new employee.
Darke County JFS and the Sheriff had expense requests. JFS will send Michelle O’connor, Kandy Foley, and Andrea Frank to Columbus on Sept. 30th-Oct. 3rd for the PCSAO Annual Conference. The cost is $3,991.00 for all three. The Sheriff has two requests: one for Christian Contreras to attend the Clark State Correction Academy in Springfield from August 25th to September. 20th. The cost will be $1,700.00. Sheriff Whittaker and Randy Linkous will attend the Buckeye Sheriff’s Training Conference in Dublin, Ohio, from Sept. 16th-18th. Total cost will be $1,832.10. All were approved.
A Transfer of Appropriations was next for Darke County Juvenile and Probate. They moved funds from various accounts to cover costs for the rest of the year. The total was $16,897.00
Mikesell Excavating was awarded the contract to tear down the old terminal building at the airport and remove some asphalt up front. The total was $29,500.00.
