GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Thursday afternoon.
Commissioners Matt Aultman and Marshall Combs were present. Larry Holmes was absent due to being on vacation.
The Commissioners approved an Agreement and a Notice to Proceed among Darke County Commissioners, Owner, and Brumbaugh Construction, Contractor, for the Garst Avenue Entry Ramp Project.
This project will consist of an additional ramp at the South building entrance to improve accessibility for the community. It is part of the Grant attained through Darke DD earlier this year, which will cover various projects to ensure accessibility throughout the county.
The Commissioners approved a Quote submitted by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for the Upfit and Improvement costs of a Command Vehicle.
“It’s like a computer data station,” said Aultman. “Mobile headquarters, restrooms, and other things for wrecks and things like Eldora.”
Under Resolution (R-171-2024), Fund Advance by the Darke County Sheriff for the 2023 Justice Assistance Grant was approved. This fund advance of $98,547.74 will cover grant expenses until revenue is received from the grant. It will be used to place mobile units in vehicles to help with tracking.
“This will be a really good thing for first responders and their safety,” expressed Combs. “It will allow the dispatch center to track the units as they look at the rural county.”
There was also a reminder that all county offices will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day.
Aultman shared that there are many programs and services happening throughout the county.
