4 critically injured in crash on US 127

DARKE COUNTY – On Thursday at approximately 4:34 PM Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Township Fire/Rescue, Greenville Fire Department, Versailles Rescue, Ansonia Rescue, MedFlight, two CareFlight helicopters and Greenville Police Department were dispatched to US 127 and Childrens Home Bradford Road in reference to a two-vehicle serious injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2007 Honda Odyssey, driven by Antonio Bartrum (29) of Troy was stopped eastbound at the intersection of Childrens Home Bradford Road and US 127 at the posted stop sign.

The Honda Odyssey attempted to cross US 127 when it was struck by a northbound white Ram 5500 utility truck, driven by David Sheets (23) of Celina. The Ram 5500 traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned in the ditch.

The trailer being towed by the Ram 5500 disconnected from the truck and traveled approximately 300 feet before coming to rest in the ditch. The Honda Odyssey came to rest in the median of US 127. Emergency personnel extricated both the male driver and female passenger from the Honda Odyssey by mechanical means.

Sheets was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where his condition is unknown. Sheets’ passenger, Conner Adams was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by MedFlight, his condition is unknown.

Bartrum and his passenger Isabella Smith (20) of Troy were flown to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Both are listed in critical condition.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also called to the scene for further investigation.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
