GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were all present.

Commissioners approved a quote to repair and update the 1874 Tower Clock on the courthouse. The Quote totaled $13,000, and the company is one of the few in Ohio to work on Tower Clocks.

“This is part of the restoration project on the courthouse,” said Aultman. “We’ve been working on the courthouse for a year and a half. This will just allow the modernizing of the clock.”

GMT Roofing also submitted a quote for a Slate Roof Repair on Garst Ave. The total estimate was $9,552.24. Due to the special material required, only one quote was collected.

The Commissioners received two bids for Tree cleanup on Garst Ave, with Bulcher Tree having the lowest bid at $8,100. A-Tree Service Inc. came next with a bid of $9,900. Bulcher Tree was approved for the cleanup due to having the lowest bid.

Aultman shared that Benches are now available to purchase for the Great Darke County Fair. These can advertise your business or be used in memory of a loved one who has passed. The cost is $625 per bench, and the deadline to order is June 15, 2024. If interested, please contact Darke County Solid Waste at 937-547-0827.

Darke County Job and Family Services also holds the Back-to-School Program this year. Each qualifying child will receive a $200 benefit for Clothing and School Supplies. This program is for children enrolled in kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. For more information, please contact DCJFS at 937-548-4132 ext. 208.
