GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.
Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Aaron Flatter were all present.
Under Resolution (R-86-2025), the Examination and Allowance of Bills dated March 11, 2025, was read and approved. The General Fund was $24,385.95; outside general funds were $106,617.10, for a Grand Total of $131,003.05.
Darke County Engineer, Jim Surber attended the opening of bids for the Replacement of the Meeker Road Bridge Project.
“I approached this bridge back in 2019 for federal funds, at that time I estimated the cost of the project as $400,000 which was an accurate estimate at that time,” said Surber.
Surber explained that he initially planned on spending $80,000 with the local share and the federal would pay the rest, however even with the increased construction prices the federal funds did not increase so the number is likely to reach as much as $300,000.
The engineer’s estimate was $766,659.49. Two bids were received. The first was from Juttee Excavating, Fort Recovery, Ohio, and the total estimated amount was $772,958.17. The second was from Brumbaugh Construction, Arcanum, Ohio, and the total estimated amount was $740,000.00. The bids were approved for review.
Darke County Commissioner also opened three Farm Bids for three different properties. 78.9 Acres, 11 Acres, and 38 acres. All bids were approved for review.
Linda York with Wayne HealthCare was in attendance as well for the approval of an agreement with commissioners for MOU and SOW #1.
“It’s using health insurance dollars that are allocated every year. We’ve had two employees have heart attacks recently and thought this would be a good service for our employees and something for them to take advantage of to help improve their health. So they’ll be able they have the rest of from now until the end of the year to make an appointment to have these vascular screenings done, and hopefully, most of them will take advantage of it,” said York.
The Darke County Board of Commissioners meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 pm.
