I want to extend my appreciation to those who commented on my recent honor received by my My County Link co-horts, especially Gaylen Bosser, Dale Barger, Clinton Randall and Tonya Keller.
Two words that caught my eye on the plaque I was presented were “legendary journalist,” which made me wonder if I still had a job or not, but then I looked further down and it indicated it was in commemoration of my decades of community service. Whew,
A couple of weeks before the fair, I informed them that I was not going to be able to attend, and Clinton had asked me if I would reply to some questions he had for me. I did.
Then, after the fair, I was called into the office and that was when I was presented with the plaque from Gaylen. No one else was there, so Gaylen asked Jamie if he would take our photo during the plaque presentation.
Jamie has taken lots of pictures, but with smaller cameras, but he came up with what Gaylen chose to use.
Days later, I was on Facebook and saw the photo and the story that Clinton prepared, and I loved it, and I especially loved reading what others thought. Some comments, especially from Clinton, brought tears to my eyes.
A few others at My County Link are deserving of the same honor because of their hard work and love for journalism.
Anyway, I am astonished that so many people saw it and complimented me in ways that I was not expecting, but dearly loved. I had more than 200 messages. They came from former co-workers, current co-workers, classmates, and lots of friends from my past and now in the present day. Many of them I have done stories on in the past, and enjoyed every minute of it. Hopefully, I can get back into my reporting routine.
I have a couple of doctor’s appointments and a procedure scheduled so that maybe I can do that…soon. We will see.
