GREENVILLE – Former Wright State University Lake Campus and Cincinnati Christian University baseball coach and recruiting coordinator Montaous Walton will head to Minnesota to join the coaching staff at Hamline University under long-time head coach Jim Weyandt.

Throughout Walton’s career, he has made the World Series twice, with Wright State Lake in 2021 and Rust College in Mississippi in 2023. Walton also helped Rust College become the 2023 regular season champions and advanced to the GCAC conference championship. While in Ohio, he was also known for his recruiting prowess, even signing former Versailles star Noah McEldowney while at Wright State Lake Campus.

“I think being back home in the Midwest is a true blessing for me, especially being very close to my family in Milwaukee, which is a close drive,” Walton stated. “I love the South, but there’s no place like home.”

“I’m a Midwest guy born and raised, and I look forward to helping coach Weyandt and the program win a championship in the MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association),” he added. “I loved my visit to Minnesota, the campus, and the fans there. They seem very passionate and supportive. I’m excited to be a part of Piper Nation.”

Coach Jim Weyandt and the Pipers have a really good one in Walton. He is a relentless and hard-working recruiter on the recruiting trail and a very likable person and coach.
