PIQUA – The Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) recently recognized the City of Piqua for its redevelopment of Lock 9 Park with a Commercial Beautification Award.
The PACC presented the award at its 79th annual meeting held on January 23 at the Piqua Country Club. City Manager Paul Oberdorfer accepted the award on behalf of the City.
“We are so pleased to receive recognition from the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce for our efforts at Lock 9 Park, which is already making an impact on the downtown and riverfront districts,” Oberdorfer said. “There are plans in motion for residential development, additional dining and entertainment options, and increased entrepreneurial activity in downtown Piqua.”
Lock 9 Park is a hub for outdoor recreation, leisure and community gatherings that was completed in July 2024. The one-acre space is located on the banks of the Great Miami River and at the intersection of the Great Miami River Trail and Ohio-to-Indiana Trail.
The PACC Commercial Beautification Award recognizes exterior restoration and renovation of commercial, industrial and public properties. Consideration is given to the site’s impact on the general area.
“Lock 9 Park is destined to become a hub for recreation and community gatherings. It will serve as a vibrant venue for outdoor activities, leisure and events,” said PACC President Kathy Sherman. “Looking ahead, Lock 9 Park will be the backdrop for countless concerts, family picnics, artists finding inspiration along the water and friends coming together for years to come.”
