VANDALIA – Greenville dropped a 52-33 road game to the Butler Aviators in a Miami Valley League contest.
The home-standing Aviators grabbed a 12-9 first-quarter lead with 6’1” junior forward Drew Hamilton accounting for 6 Wave points and a Liam Jasenski 3-pointer.
Period No. 2 went to Butler by a 10-8 score sending the teams to the break with the Aviators holding a 22-17 advantage. Ryan Staver paced GHS with a 3-point basket in the quarter.
Greenville struggled in third quarter play with the Aviators taking the period by an 18-5 count sending the game to the final quarter of play with the Green Wave trailing 40-22.
“We were down five at halftime but between turnovers and missed shots we dug a hole we couldn’t get out of,” Greenville coach, Matt Hamilton said of third-quarter play. “We played better overall than last weekend.”
Greenville put 11 points on the fourth quarter board led by junior forward, Drew Hamilton’s 9-points including his second triple of the night. Butler was one better taking the final period 12-11 to earn the MVL win.
Hamilton led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 18 points.
Greenville is home to the Troy Trojans on Tuesday, December 12 with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
