BUCCS compete at Troy Invitational

TROY – Covington finished with three individual champions and five total placers at the Troy Invitational on Saturday, despite missing a few starters.  The Buccs ended up finishing in 6th place out of 13 teams at the event.
Carson Taylor (106 lbs.), Michael Hagan (120 lbs.) and Chase Vanderhorst (132 lbs.) each won their respective weight classes.
Taylor earned a 9-4 decision over Troy’s T.J. Murray to take first place, going 5-0 overall with 4 pins.  Hagan followed that up with an impressive pin over state placer Corbin Kimmel of Wayne Trace in the finals, after also finishing 5-0 with 4 pins.  Vanderhorst then made it 3 for 3 for the Buccs in the championship bouts by pinning Ben Logan’s Evan Carpenter, finishing the day with a 5-0 record and 5 pins.
Zeb Woodward-Roeth (1 pin) placed 4th at 215 lbs., while Caleb Ryman (2 pins) placed 5th with a 4-1 record at 138 lbs.  Also earning victories for the Buccs were Andrew Basye (120, 2 pins), Elijah Carnes (144, 1 pin), Luke Brown (144, 1 pin), Jack Blumenstock (150, 1 pin), Kaden Thompson (150, 1 pin), Mason Epperson (157, 1 pin) and A.J. Reyes (215, 1 pin).
Covington travels to Piqua for high school and jr. high duals on Wednesday, January 11.
