
BRADFORD – The Bradford boys basketball team started the 2024-25 season with two straight losses, including a 52-50 nailbiter to league foe Newton. Since then, they have won two straight, a 53-46 win over National Trail and a 53-49 win over Fort Recovery.
The wins improved their record to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference.

Bradford fell behind 13-6 to start the game against Fort Recovery on Saturday, and the offense struggled to get going, trailing at the half 22-13.
After the break, the Roaders offense came to life behind Owen Canan and Wirrig, with 17 points in the 3rd quarter, to tie the game at 30-30 heading into the final frame.

Bradford didn’t take their foot off the gas, scoring 23 more in the 4th quarter to win the non-conference game 53-48.
Owen Canan and Rallie Wirrig tied with game-high honors with 16 points each.
In the first four games of the year Canan is averaging 20 points per game.
The Railroaders will travel to Ansonia on Tuesday to take on the Tigers.
Prior to the game, Bradford Honor Chris Daugherty, a member of the Class of 1996, by inducting him into the 2024 Hall of Fame.
Chris was a three-sport athlete in football, powerlifting and track. He played Defensive Lineman, Tight End, and Fullback in Football and lettered for 3 years.

Chris qualified for the Track Regional Meet all four years of his high school career and was a four-year letter winner. During his senior year, he swept the Covington Invite, Conference, and Districts in the 100, 200, and 400 m. Dash and qualified for the State Track Meet. He was the first athlete to qualify for state in 10 years. He was named Darke County Sprinter of the Year in 1996. Chris was unbeaten in the 400 his senior year until the regional meet. He held the Bradford High School 400 m. Dash record until 2012.
After graduation, he attended Bowling Green University where he majored in Construction Management. He is currently an Area Manager for Kokosing Construction. He is married to Brooke (Peeples) Daugherty, and they have three children.
