Betty is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, David & Rosemary Grooms of San Diego, California, and daughter, Roxanne Grooms of Kettering, Ohio; grandson, Justin and Suzy (Sunbarger) Grooms and their children (great-granddaughters) Reagan Betty, Ryan Suzy and Dylan Rio of Corte Madera, CA; grandson Tyler and Katie (Kimble) Grooms and their children (great-granddaughters) Eleanor (Ellie) Anne, Bryn Rosemary and Madeline Margaret of Austin, TX; and grandsons, Logan Grooms of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Connor Grooms of Austin, TX.

Betty retired from the Greenville City School System, where she worked as a secretary. She also worked at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church as secretary to the late Pastor Sam Hoeflich. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary at Neff Lettering. Betty was also a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. However, Betty’s greatest joy in life was to create a beautiful home for her family. She was able to see the “good bones” in a home and transform it into a work of art, including beautiful flowers and landscaping. She won various blue ribbons at the Great Darke County Fair with her “green thumb” and artistic vision. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and various arts and crafts.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on December 20, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow beginning at 11:00 with Pastor Andrew Gilman of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Cherry Fork Cemetery in Cherry Fork, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for charitable donations to be made to:
