Betty Jean Schultz, age 94, of Greenville and formerly of Pitsburg passed away at 2:15 am Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
Betty Jean was born on September 6, 1932, in Houston, Ohio, to the late Reginald Rosell & Wanda (Miley) Hunley. In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward Hunley; 1st husband, Gale Schultz; 2nd husband, Marvin “Joe” Dankworth; sister, Dolores Preston Cunningham; and brothers, Gerald Rosell, and Donald Rosell.
Betty Jean is survived by her children, Cheryl & David Fine, Tony & Becky Schultz, and Tonya & Virgil Klosterman all of Greenville; grandchildren, Michelle & Kevin Flory, Jeremy & Tiffany Fine, Wesley & Amy Schultz, Brent Schultz & Betsy Evans, Kendra & Richard McKee, Travis & Rachel Neff, Tyler Neff, Rachel & Bryan Duncan, Adam Klosterman & Chris Escalona, Brandon & Amanda Klosterman, Caitlin & Wes Spencer, and Justin & Emily Bernard; great grandchildren, Grant & Katy Flory, Lauren Flory, Tessa Fine, Addie Fine, Hadlee Neff, Payton Neff, Gauge McKee, Brynlee McKee, Evan Duncan, Chelsea Duncan, Owen Klosterman, Oakley Klosterman, Onix Klosterman, Warner Spencer, Rhea Spencer, Shaylee Spencer, Wrett Spencer, Reed Spencer, Luke Bernard, and Ian Bernard; great great grandchildren, Della Flory and Bonnie Flory; sister-in-law, Delois Rosell of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty Jean was a 1950 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a beautician for 38 years. Betty Jean owned and operated her own shop in Pitsburg called Betty’s Beauty Boutique. She always took great care to look her best and she took great pride and pleasure to make her patrons feel beautiful as well. Betty Jean was a member of Stelvideo Christian Church where she played piano and led the youth choir. Her church life was very important to her. She publicly confessed Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior and was Baptized at the age of 15 at Dawn Methodist Church. Betty Jean strived to live her life accordingly and, along with her devout husband Gale, raised their children in the faith. Betty Jean enjoyed arranging flowers and crocheting. Many of her creations were given to family and friends as gifts. A favorite pastime was playing cards. She had been in many different card clubs throughout her life. Betty Jeans’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Family was everything to her. Her family grew almost every year as did her love.
A celebration of Betty Jean’s life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Tracy Brown and Stewart Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
