Bell pleads guilty to strangulation of his mom

GREENVILLE – Atrevion Bell (18) of Union City entered a guilty plea on Monday in the Darke County Common Pleas Court in a case involving the strangulation of his mom on November 28, 2023 at their residence.

Bell was originally indicted on seven counts which included Strangulation (F4), Domestic Violence (M1), three counts of Aggravated Menacing (M1), Using Weapons while Intoxicated (M1) and Underage Consumption (M1).

He pleaded guilty to the Strangulation charge and one count of Aggravated Menacing. The other five counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement with the state.

According to the criminal complaint, Bell strangled his mother before officers arrived on the scene. Bell then came outside brandishing a firearm and was taken into custody by the Union City Ohio Police Department. Reports also indicate Bell was intoxicated on alcohol at the time of the incident.

Bell faces up to 24 months in prison at his scheduled sentencing hearing on March 25 at 3 p.m.
