There is a lot of misinformation around the news nowadays. A lot of it is not what the people who are interviewed have said but what the media wants you to hear. I know this from watching different outlets. It does a disservice to people and can be quite harmful.

One of the things I am most proud of is the people at My County Link, for which, with full disclosure (as if you couldn’t tell!), I write columns and do informative videos. It is a small and growing internet news and sports network (averaging 1.4 million ad impressions per month) that centers on local sports and news. We are growing very fast, and I want all of you to take a look at mycountylink.com. I think you will be impressed!

One of the things I think is a must-see is the three videos we have done since last Tuesday. They are in full content and unedited, as you will be able to tell, we do them unrehearsed! We just sit down at The Round Table discussion and have at it with the guest! We never know how it will go, but it is always fun and informative.

The first one we did was with Holly Hill of the Brethrens Retirement Community on aging and the available services at the Home. We also learned about growing older, the needs and available services they offer, and how things have changed in the service and care of older Americans. It was really good, so watch it and see!

The other two we did on Thursday with two important people for our service area, Darke, Mercer, Miami, and Preble counties. The first one was with Mr. Jim Buchy, a stranger to no one in our area, on the Avian Flu. Mr. Buchy is an expert on all things agricultural, and his notes and dialogue on this subject, which is so timely right now, was full of statistics and his plan for dealing with this destructive disease. It was a real eye-opener for sure.

In talking to several of our other representatives, they have stated that Mr. Buchy’s proposal for fighting this disease has been referred to Senator Bernie Moreno, and after hearing it, he has promised to take it to President Trump! How’s that for local clout? Jim’s video is a MUST SEE for all in southwest Ohio, and will help those of us understand the consequences, causes and possible fixes for this devastating disease. Give it a look!

The second video we did was with Senator Steve Huffman on the new bill on marijuana in the State of Ohio. Senator Huffman has been a leader, or should I say THE LEADER on this subject for several years. He was working on this when I was Commissioner, and I remember talking to him and hearing him say, “We have to get ahead of this.” And that was at least five years ago!

Steve is an excellent source on the subject and is a certified doctor who just got back from North Carolina, helping people in the flooded areas of the State. His knowledge and experience from both of his fields of choice have made him the expert in this field, and his take on the new law just passed gives some much-needed insight into medical and personal marijuana usage in Ohio. This is a definite must-see, especially for those in Greenville, as there is much debate on whether to allow it in the City. Watch this video, then you can make an informed decision!

I love what we are doing at My County Link, and all of our content is easily accessible. When on your mobile phone, just go to mycountylink.com and click on the three-dot hamburger menu, then go to Columns and click The Round Table to view all the videos we have made. The one that will appear at the top is with Holly Hill from the Brethrens Retirement Community, and soon to be posted are the other two. Give them a look and we hope you browse the site and check it out.

One of the writers there is totally brilliant and writes two columns. One is called At the Coffee Shop, and the other is From the Sidelines. Check them out; that guy is good! (Okay, maybe not that good or that brilliant, but he sure does love writing them!) We hope that we can become a daily habit and that you enjoy our content. Come along and grow with us!
