ARCANUM – The Arcanum Lady Trojans defeated the West Liberty-Salem Lady Tigers 10-0 in five-innings of first round OHSAA DIII tournament play.
The Lady Trojans took advantage of first-inning one-out singles off the bats of Kenzie Byrne and Emilie Fout followed with a Paige Burrell run-scoring double giving Arcanum a 1-0 lead that would hold up for the win.

Arcanum broke the game open in the bottom of the second scoring six-runs with the big hit, a homerun off the bat of senior, Mollie Ericksen to lead 7-1 with two-innings in the book.

“Somebody is always stepping up and getting a big hit for us,” said Arcanum coach, Mike Morris. “We struggle the first couple of innings and it’s like the switch turns on and we start hitting gaps.”

The Lady Trojans added two-runs in the third and one-run in the bottom of the fourth to earn the run rule win.
“We got our bunts down again tonight and taking extra bases on their mistakes,” Morris stated. “No errors, no walks from our pitchers and a pretty good game. Playing solid right now.”

Hannah Kendig picked up the win for Arcanum with 4.0 innings of work on the mound allowing no runs, one-hit, no walks while striking out four. Belle Harleman pitched 1.0 inning in relief with no runs scored, no hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
