Applicants sought for newly formed City Historic Review Commission

PIQUA – The City of Piqua seeks interested residents to serve on the newly formed City Historic Review Commission (CHRC).

The Piqua City Commission created the City Historic Review Commission (CHRC) on May 21, 2024, under Ordinance O-3-24. City Commission empowered the CHRC to be the final determining body for the appropriateness of modifications and improvements to historical structures within the City of Piqua as well as to designate local landmarks as defined by the adopted ordinance.

The CHRC will meet quarterly on a schedule determined by appointed members. The CHRC is staffed by the City of Piqua city planner and includes a non-voting member from the City Commission and one member who represents the Piqua-Caldwell Historic District Association board.

The City Commission will appoint four (4) additional members who are residents of the City of Piqua who are not an official or employees of the City of Piqua. Members shall also be experts in and/or have experience in the fields of architecture, architectural history, history, archaeology, planning or related disciplines.

Residents who meet the above criteria and are interested in being considered for appointment by the City Commission to the CHRC must complete an application by noon Eastern time Friday, May 31, 2024.
