KENTON, Ohio – The Ansonia powerlifting team delivered another strong performance at the state meet, with seven lifters representing the program and several earning top placements in their respective weight classes.
Leading the way was Addie Geyer, who continued her dominant run by claiming another state title with an impressive 900-pound total. Geyer posted lifts of 335 in the squat, 180 in the bench press, and 385 in the deadlift. This victory marks her third consecutive state championship, and she will look to make it four in a row next season.
Ansonia also saw multiple podium finishes on the boys’ side. Lander Shives earned a third-place finish in the 210-pound weight class with a total of 1,205 pounds, highlighted by a 485-pound squat, 250-pound bench, and 470-pound deadlift. Caleb Eubank matched that placement in the 185-pound class, totaling 1,155 pounds with lifts of 475 in the squat, 225 in the bench, and 455 in the deadlift.
Oden Hoening narrowly missed the podium in the 210-pound class, finishing fourth with a 1,170-pound total. His performance included a 480-pound squat, a standout 285-pound bench press—the highest in his class—and a 405-pound deadlift.
Additional contributors for Ansonia included Jacob Macnutt, who placed eighth in the 185-pound class with a 965 total (390 squat, 200 bench, 375 deadlift), and Gabe Fergerson, who finished 10th in the 225-pound class with an 890 total. Fergerson recorded a 440-pound squat and 450-pound deadlift.
Troy Werling also competed for Ansonia in the 155-pound class, totaling 780 pounds with lifts of 300 in the squat, 165 in the bench, and 315 in the deadlift.
With multiple top finishes and another state champion crowned, Ansonia once again proved itself as a competitive force at the state level and looks ahead with excitement to next season.
