ANSONIA—Ansonia Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual Chili Supper on Thursday evening, complete with a Halloween parade.

The chili, sandwiches, desserts and beverages were served at 5 p.m. and the Halloween Parade followed.

Kevin McKenna reported there were 36 gallons of chili made with all of it selling with the exception of an estimated gallon. In addition 307 sandwiches, lots of desserts and beverages were sold.

McKenna said it was a good crowd compared to the last two years.

“It was cold last year,” he said.

Another highlight of the evening was the judging of costumes.

Cory Meadows, emcee who interviewed the contestants, said there were approximately 115 total people in that contest. All contestants received a bag of candy while the winners walked away with prizes, some of which were monetary while others were awarded pizza certificates.

The annual raffle brought the event to a close with many prizes given out to lucky winners.

All proceeds benefit the fire department.
