DARKE COUNTY – On Wednesday, September 16th, Darke County Soil & Water hosted the Darke County soil judging competition.
The contest was held at Tony Schlechty Farms. The Ansonia FFA had 17 students participate, with 11 moving on to the district competition this Friday.
In rural judging, students evaluate land and soil and to make decisions when faced with soil-related issues that affect agricultural production. In urban judging, students evaluate land and soil to determine its potential use for urban, homesite, and other nonfarm uses.
Wyatt Homan was their top scorer, scoring 12th overall in rural judging. Great job to all of the students who competed for the first time, or the third time!
