Union City Grain Mill Demo Asbestos Removal Approved

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ August 4, 2026 public session started at 9:30 a.m., with Commissioners Aultman and Flatter present. The reading of the minutes from July 30th was first approved, and the examination and allowance of bills for July 30th and August 4th were next. The General Fund total was $17,636.28. The outside General funds were $7,613.13, and the total was $29,249.41 and was approved.

Transfers of Appropriations to cover the Sewer Dept. and the Prosecutor’s office were approved. The Sewer Dept. transferred $2,500.00 to pay Rolin Acres electric bill, and $1,500.00 was transferred for the Prosecutor to cover office supplies.

The Sheriff and the JFS offered expense requests for approval. The Sheriff asked for $350.00 for Austin Knight to attend the Standardized field sobriety testing- instructor course, August 10th-24th, at the OPOTA Campus, London, Ohio, and JFS asked for $3,761.50 for Kandy Foley, Michelle O’Connor, Kaley Wagner and Kelley Langstaff to attend the PCSAO Conference in Columbus, Sept. 30th—October 2nd. Both were approved.

The Commissioners’ monthly obligation was transferred for JFS Children’s Services in the amount of $60,788.78.

JFS has hired Robert Honaker effective August 10th as a full-time Unit Support Worker 2.

Darke County Grants has awarded $19,500.00 to CTL Engineering to clean up asbestos and hazardous materials for the Cooper Farms-Grain Mill Demo in Union City, located at 2010 East Elm Street.
