UNION CITY, Ind. – Union City Junior Senior High School held its Commencement Friday evening, May 29th, in the high school gymnasium. The Class of 2026 graduated 68 students.
Scholarships, grants, military education benefits, etc., amounted to a total of $700,584.00 to further the education of the applicable graduates. This included $180,750 from seventy-four local scholarships. The following graduates received scholarships at the Senior Reception on Thursday, May 28th.
Campbell Kerns is the valedictorian of the Union City High School Class of 2026. She received the Lily Finalist, Lady Indians-Larry Wilson Memorial, National Honor Society – Senior Member, Alumni, Class of 1983, Thomas E. Leahey Leadership Award, Dellarose Sickels, Frances I. Woods, Claire Lynch, Perry Valedictorian and Kenneth Pyle Family Valedictorian Scholarships. She plans to attend Taylor University, majoring in Christian ministries while minoring in Communications, Management, & Biblical Literature.
Jayson Connor is the salutatorian of Union City High School Class of 2026. He received the Alumni, Class of 1983, Herold Scholarship Fund, James Moorman, Gloria Godfrey-Larry Wasson, and Claudia Wise Scholarships. He plans to attend Bethel College to study civil engineering, while continuing his baseball career with the Bethel Pilots.
Chloe Ballard received the Chasing Sunsets, FFA Alumni, and Duane E. & Ruby M. Wickersham Scholarships. She plans to attend Ball State University.
Rafael Banda received the Tony Puccini Memorial, Alumni, Wanda Mann, and Adelsperger Family Endowment Scholarships. He plans to attend Ball State University.
Andrew Bowers received the Class of 1983, Carl C. Keller & Virginia Whitman Keller, David E. Hyre Memorial, Gene & Roberta Bennett, and Martha Goodman Scholarships. He plans to attend Purdue University.
Keian Brockman received the Melissa D. “Missy” Memorial Scholarship. He will be attending Indiana University East.
Alondra Corona-Lara received the Steve Hinshaw Humanitarian Award. She will be attending the University of Saint Francis.
Jackson Cowper received the Class of 1988, and American Legion Scholarships. He plans to attend Purdue Fort Wayne.
Landen Dittmar received the Elijah Hatton Memorial Scholarship. He plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College.
Gavin Elmore received the Alumni, Class of 1983, Jason Rickert Memorial, Delta Theta Tau-Lambda Chapter, James Moorman, Gloria Godfrey-Larry Wasson Scholarships. He plans to attend Purdue University.
Addison Emmons received the Gene & Roberta Bennett, and Bill & Mary Lou Fulk Memorial Scholarships. She plans to attend Indiana University East.
Lindsey Evans received the Lady Indians-Larry Wilson Memorial, Alumni, Class of 1983, Winchester Business & Professional Women’s Club, Carl C. Keller & Virginia Whitman Keller, Class of 1970, Doris Mendenhall Memorial, and Edith Winn Scholarships. She plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University.
Ryan Flores-Wine received the Harry & June Loy Scholarship. He plans to attend Indiana University East.
Angeline Gonzalez-Garcia received the Tri-Kappa – Winchester Alpha Phi Scholarship. She plans to attend Ball State University.
Bryce Jenkinson received the Lawrence Family Scholarship. He plans to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH).
Nikolai Leedom received the National Honor Society – “Make a Difference,” Class of 1983, and Clyde & Sarah Alice Wise Scholarships. He plans to attend Indiana Tech – Fort Wayne.
Adessa Lozoya received the James Moorman, and Randolph Eastern Classroom Teachers Association Memorial Scholarships. She plans to attend Ball State University.
Valerie Mata received the Lady Indians-Larry Wilson Memorial, VH Cooper, and VFW – Ron Moore Memorial Scholarships. She plans to attend Franklin College.
Nathaniel Partin received the National Farmworker Jobs Program Grant, Lawrence Family, Diane (Reeves) Kegerreis Memorial, and UC Rotary Kim Peterson Memorial Scholarships. He plans to attend Lineman School.
Michelle Ramirez Jimenez received the VH Cooper Scholarship. She plans to attend college in Miami, Florida.
Maxwell Retter received the Alumni – Gertrude Brady Memorial, Class of 1983, and John D. Wilson Scholarships. He plans to attend Ball State University.
Adrianna Welch received the Alumni – Bertie Teegarden Memorial, John & Prudie Schmidt Broadcasting Award, Rickert-Shierling Educational Fund, Kellie Stephen & Dave Furby Memorial, Stephen Family, Kylee Renee Wells, and Tri Kapp – Winchester Alpha Phi Chapter Scholarships. She plans to attend Earlham College.
