Entries wanted for the 23rd Annual Hometown Holiday Horse Parade

Entries are open now through Thursday, Nov. 12, for the Saturday, Nov. 21 parade in downtown Greenville

Main Street Greenville is calling for entries to the 23rd Annual Hometown Holiday Horse Parade, which lights up downtown Greenville on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. Horse-drawn carriages, wagons, buggies and riders can enter the horse parade, and decorated pickups, SUVs and similar vehicles can join the lighted truck parade that follows the same evening.

The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Nov. 12.

Main Street Greenville has coordinated the lighted parade since 2004, and it has become the unofficial start of the holiday season in Darke County. The event has drawn thousands of spectators downtown, has been named Ohio Magazine’s Parade of the Year, and has topped 100 entries in past years. This year, organizers hope to see the lineup grow even bigger, and every new carriage, rider and truck adds to the show.

The horse parade is open to horse-drawn carriages, wagons, buggies and riders. Right after the horses, the lighted truck parade rolls down Broadway. Drivers must be 18 or older, and entries can be pickups, SUVs, tractors, commercial vehicles, or similar vehicles decorated with holiday lights. Staging information and other event details will be posted as they are confirmed.

To enter, complete a separate online entry form for each entry by Nov. 12. Horse parade entry forms are available at experiencemainstreet.com/p/2026-horse-parade-entry-form, and lighted truck entry forms are at experiencemainstreet.com/p/2026-lighted-truck-parade-entry-form. Horse entries should include proof of liability insurance. Entrants can also submit a short description of their entry, which the parade announcer will read aloud as they pass the reviewing stand.

“This parade only happens because of the families, farms and clubs who take the time to bring their horses, carriages and trucks downtown,” said Lauren Ignaffo, the new Executive Director of Main Street Greenville. “If you have been thinking about joining us, now is the time to sign up. We would love to see your lights on Broadway.”
