WARRANT
March 23, 2026 – At approximately 1537 hours, I was on patrol near 600 Walnut Street and observed a male subject resembling Walter Ward, who was known to have an active arrest warrant.
I stepped out of my cruiser to make contact. I asked the subject his name and he advised that he was Walter Ward. At this point, P. O. Slade had arrived and asked Walter for his social security number to confirm the warrant through dispatch. Walter was detained, placed in handcuffs that were gap-checked and double-locked. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Walter was placed under arrest. Walter was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was found.
Walter was placed in the back of my cruiser for transport.
Prior to transport, Walter advised that the handcuffs were too tight. I had Walter step out of the cruiser and I adjusted the handcuffs. I gap checked and double locked the handcuffs again and placed Walter in the back of the cruiser. I transported Walter to the Darke County Jail to be incarcerated.
I checked the backseat of my cruiser 1944 before and after transport and no contraband was located.
March 22, 2026 – At approximately 1443 hours, I responded to 695 Wagner Avenue, Rural King in the City of Greenville in reference to a known wanted person in the store.
Prior to my arrival, I was advised that Paul was wearing a black shirt and a black hat.
I had prior knowledge that Paul had an arrest warrant for probation violation on an original charge of possession of dangerous drugs through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. Upon my arrival, I located a white van with license plate KPY6527 that Paul is known to drive. As soon as I observed the vehicle, I observed Paul wearing the clothing description above.
I observed Paul trying to hide behind vehicles and once I got out of my marked patrol car, Paul took off running North through the parking lot. I yelled at Paul to stop running, but he continued to run. During the foot pursuit, Paul fell twice into the roadway on Russ Road, scraping his hands and causing a small amount of bleeding.
After I caught up to Paul, he then complied with me, and I placed him into handcuffs that were double-locked and gap-checked. Paul denied wanting any medical attention for his fall. I asked Paul why he ran and he stated he knew he had a warrant. Greenville Dispatch confirmed the warrant.
Paul was transported to the Darke County Jail for his warrant by Officer Slade without further incident. Paul was also cited for Obstructing Official Business, a misdemeanor of the second degree and advised of his mandatory court date.
March 17, 2026 – At approximately 1708 hours, I observed a 2008 Honda park in front of 407 West Fourth Street.
I identified the passenger as Christopher Miller. Christopher has an active arrest warrant out of Greenville for failure to appear on a CPO violation.
I exited my cruiser and made contact with Christopher and ordered him to exit the vehicle. Christopher exited the vehicle and I placed him in handcuffs. The handcuffs were double-locked and gap-checked.
Dispatch confirmed the warrant through LEADS/NCIC. I placed Christopher in the back seat of my cruiser and transported him to the Darke County Jail, where he was released to jail staff. The back seat of my cruiser was checked before and after the transport and I located nothing.
March 13, 2026 – At approximately 2057 hours, I responded to 1236 Northmoore Drive in the City of Greenville in reference to a wanted person.
Upon my arrival, I made contact with Austin Blackburn in the driveway. Austin advised me that he lives at the address with his grandmother and that last night, his cousin Matthew Blackburn arrived back at the residence. Austin stated that he was made aware recently that Matthew had a bench warrant for his arrest. Austin then allowed officers to enter the residence to locate Matthew, who was sitting on the living room couch.
Matthew was placed under arrest and into handcuffs that were gap-checked and double-locked. Matthew was searched incident to arrest with nothing located.
Dispatch confirmed the failure to appear misdemeanor warrant through our department, with a bond of $1,525. I then transported Matthew to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, with a physical copy of his warrant, where he was released to jail staff. The backseat of cruiser 1944 was checked prior to and after transport.
