KETTERING – The Tri-Village boys basketball team ran their record to 14-0 with a 53-35 win over DIV Indian Hill from Cincinnati in a tournament showcase at Flyin’ to the Hoop. The Patriots relied on solid defense and a 14-point run from the latter part of the 2nd quarter into the 3rd quarter to gain control of the game.
Tri-Village started the game well and benefited from some tough shots made by senior Trey Sagester, and Indian Hill would trail the Patriots by just one after one quarter of play, 16-15.
The Patriots were content to sit back in their 2-3 zone and force Indian Hill to make shots outside. Neither team did that well in the second quarter, but TV’s defense held the Braves to just one bucket and took a 22-17 lead at the break.
The Patriots shot just 36% in the first half, well below the 55% they normally shoot. The second half started well with Trey Sagester draining a logo triple that drew oohs and aahs from the crowd.

Brecken Gray knocked down a triple, along with Griffin Richards, connecting on two of them, to help the Patriots separate from Indian Hill and hold a 38 – 24 lead heading into the final frame.
Indian Hill struck back on a couple of long balls of their own in the 4th quarter from Jack Nolan, who was 4-for-7 from beyond the arch … but the Patriots defense stymied the Braves most of the night and held them one and out most of the time by outrebounding them 33-20.
Tri-Village showed patience and held the ball most of the final stanza, drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line, going 12-for-16 in the game, and they went on to win 53-35.
The 35 points given up is right at their average for the year and ranks them 3rd in DVI in points given up per game.

Trey Sagester had a double-double, leading all scorers in the game with 19 and 10 rebounds. Griffin Richards scored 11 and had 5 assists, and Brecken Gray added 10 points in the win.
Now 14-0, the Patriots will stay on the road traveling to 9-3 Franklin Monroe in a big WOAC match-up on Friday.
