Mississinawa Boys Basketball wins RT 47 Battle over Ansonia

UNION CITY – The Ansonia boys basketball team made the RT 47 battle with Mississinawa Valley interesting for one quarter before they ran out of steam while the Blackhawks continued to soar pulling away from an 18-14 lead to 36-16 at halftime.  The Hawks went on to claim a 62-27 win in this one.

While the Tigers offense was clicking in the first quarter and the gym was hot the Tigers went cold and scored just 13 points the remaining 3 quarters.

In the first match-up between the two teams back in December Ansonia battled till the end before falling late 44-34.

The Hawks got off to a fast start with Cing Scott scoring 8 of his 10 in the first quarter.

Ansonia’s Carson Tobe had the hot hand early for the Tigers scoring all 7 of his points in the first quarter and he got help from Conner Riffle with 5 points but trailed MV 18-14.

Nothing went right for the Tigers in the second quarter, and the lid was tight on the basket and managed only one lay-up from Jacob MacNutt.

Mississinawa continued to put the ball in the hole with Cole McGlothlin finding his way to the rim.  He scored 8 points in the second quarter and had 12 in the first half.  He got help in the quarter from Jaxin Beanblossom with 5 points as the Hawks held a 36-16 at the half.

McGlothlin duplicated his 2nd quarter output with another 8 points in the 3rd quarter as the Hawks lead grew to 50-24.

In the final frame Mississinawa got 4 points from Elliott Seubert who ended with 9 for the game.  They outscored Ansonia 12-6 in the final stanza and won the game 62-27.

Ansonia was led in the game by Jacob MacNutt with 8 points and Carson Tobe had 7.  The Tigers record fell to 3-11 overall and they are 1-6 in the WOAC.  They will host Preble Shawnee on Friday January 23rd.

Mississinawa was led by  Cole McGlothlin with 20 points and Cing Scott had 10 for the Blackhawks who improved to 7-7 overall and is 3-4 in the WOAC.  They will play at Bradford on Friday January 23rd.
