2 semis overturn after colliding Sunday night

DARKE COUNTY – On Sunday at approximately 10:44 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, North Star Fire Department, and Ansonia Rescue, were dispatched to the intersection of US 127 and SR 705 in New Weston in reference to an injury accident involving two semi-tractor trailers.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia hauling yogurt was traveling west on SR 705 at US 127. The Freightliner failed to yield the right of way to a 2013 Peterbilt 389 that was traveling north on US 127; hauling eggs. The Peterbilt Struck the trailer of the Freightliner causing both vehicles and trailers to overturn.

The driver of the Peterbilt was identified as Kristopher Bahner (25) of Lima. He had to be extracted from the semi by mechanical means and was ultimately transported to Wayne HealthCare for suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner was identified as Azamat Mukumov (39) of Brooklyn, New York. He was also transported to Wayne HealthCare for precautionary measures.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
